友兴公司创办于1950年代，由富有远见的创始人萧友兴先生亲自创立。最初，公司以“萧友兴宝号”经营，后来于1980年代更名为友兴贸易有限公司，至今已有超过60年的悠久历史。在公司初期，萧友兴先生专注于本地水果和蔬菜的贸易。然而，1950年代末，他敏锐地发现诗巫地区由于低洼的地势常年受雨季和涨水影响，导致本地蔬菜供应时常短缺。为了解决这一问题，萧先生决定寻找新的解决方案。

            萧友兴先生自幼离开中国福建故乡，来到诗巫。萧先生对中国的地理和农业资源有着深入的了解。他意识到中国许多地区的蔬菜和水果丰富，但由于当时交通和船运不发达，鲜活农产品难以及时送达诗巫。经过深思熟虑，他发现新加坡港口是连接中国与诗巫的最佳通道，只有通过新加坡，才能将新鲜的蔬菜和水果运送到诗巫。​  

            作为从福建来到诗巫的移民，萧先生对中国的地理和农业资源有着深入的了解。他意识到中国许多地区的蔬菜和水果丰富，但由于当时交通和船运不发达，鲜活农产品难以及时送达诗巫。经过深思熟虑，他发现新加坡港口是连接中国与诗巫的最佳通道，只有通过新加坡，才能将新鲜的蔬菜和水果运送到诗巫。​

            1960年代初，萧友兴先生独自前往新加坡，在多方努力和咨询下，他找到了当时专营各国蔬菜水果进口的商人陈秋德先生，并与他建立了合作关系，后者创立了德记有限公司。最初，萧友兴宝号专注于蔬菜贸易，随后也拓展到了水果业务。

            1980年，友兴公司正式注册为“YOU HIM TRADING SDN BHD”，并稳步发展。随着业务的不断扩展，我们在提升服务和产品质量方面也取得了显著进展，逐渐成为诗巫地区内备受信赖的蔬菜水果批发商。​

            值得一提的是，萧友兴先生是诗巫港口第一位引进国外蔬菜和水果的商人。友兴宝号成为诗巫市首家进口国内外新鲜蔬菜和水果的公司，为当地居民提供了更多元化的食物选择。萧先生不仅凭借商业智慧开辟了新的市场，也为诗巫的食品供应做出了杰出的贡献，留下了光辉的历史篇章。

           You Him Trading Sdn Bhd was founded in the 1950s by the visionary Mr. Siw You Him. Initially, the company operated under the name "Siw You Him Treasure," and later changed its name to You Him Trading Sdn Bhd under SSM in the 1980s. With over 75 years of rich history, the company’s journey began with a focus on the trade of local fruits and vegetables. However, in the late 1950s, Mr. Siw observed that the low-lying areas of Sibu were often affected by seasonal flooding and rains, causing frequent shortages in the local vegetable supply. Recognizing this challenge, he set out to find a solution.

           Having left his hometown in Fujian, China to Sibu, Mr. Siw possessed deep knowledge of China’s geography and agricultural resources. He realized that many regions in China produced an abundance of vegetables and fruits, but due to underdeveloped transportation and shipping systems at the time, fresh produce could not be delivered to Sibu promptly. After consideration, he identified Singapore’s port as the best gateway to connect China with Sibu, believing that fresh vegetables and fruits could only reach Sibu efficiently through Singapore.

          In the early 1960s, Mr. Siw travelled alone to Singapore, where, after considerable effort and consultations, he found Mr. Chen Qiu De, a businessman who specialized in importing vegetables and fruits from around the world, and established a cooperative partnership. Mr. Chen later founded the renowned Teck Joo Limited Company. Initially, You Him Trading Sdn Bhd focused on vegetables trade but soon expanded into the fruits business.

         In 1980, You Him Trading was officially registered as "YOU HIM TRADING SDN BHD" and continued its steady growth. As the business expanded, significant improvements were made in both service and product quality, establishing the company as a trusted name in the wholesale trade of fruits and vegetables in Sibu.

            Notably, Mr. Siw was the first person to introduce foreign fruits and vegetables to the Sibu port. "Siw You Him Treasure" became the first company in Sibu to import fresh produce from both domestic and international sources, offering the local community a wider variety of food options. Through his entrepreneurial foresight, Mr. Siw not only created new market opportunities but also made an outstanding contribution to Sibu’s food supply, leaving behind a legacy of remarkable achievements.
